Home-brewed Kombucha

Kombucha is a delicious drink that is filled with probiotics for optimal digestion, energy, and more!

What you will need:

Four Green Tea bags

Four Black Tea bags

3/4 Cup of Sugar

1 Cup of Plain Kombucha

Scobie

Lemon Juice (if flavoring is desired)

Fruit of Choice (if flavoring is desired)

Boil water in a large pot one gallon of water, once boiling turn off the burner and add four green tea bags and four black tea bags. Let the tea steep for about 20 minutes or so. Add one cup of sugar and stir well. Let the tea and sugar mixture cool to room temperature. Pour the mixture into a one gallon glass jar of your choice. Add the one cup of kombucha to that and then top with the scobie. Cover with a thin towel and rest it for ten days in a dark area. After ten days stir the kombucha well and pour into glass bottles for drinking. If you are wanting flavored kombucha, you may add flavoring of your choice now. Our favorite is to add two tablespoons of lemon juice and 3-5 blackberries in each bottle. Again, place in a dark area and let rest for two additional days. Now you can put the bottles in the fridge and they are ready to enjoy!
